10 principios para trasladar la metodología Montessori al aula

Hoy tenemos con nosotros a Clara Godino, educadora infantil y asistente Montessori que nos va a hablar de 10 principios para trasladar la metodología Montessori a cualquier aula de infantil. ¡Espero que el post os guste tanto como me ha gustado a mí! ¡Os dejo con sus palabras!
¿Es posible convertir un aula tradicional en un aula Montessori?
Aunque Montessorizar un aula tradicional pueda parecer una tarea complicada, no lo es. El método Montessori cada vez es más utilizado por diferentes centros infantiles en todo el mundo. Esta metodología es usada principalmente en los centros Montessori certificados y sus profesionales se forman especialmente sobre ello, como guías y asistentes. Esto no quiere decir que, por no ser un centro certificado, no puedan trasladar estos principios a su aula ordinaria.
Como asistente, puedo destacar una serie de principios básicos que acercan a cualquier persona a una metodología Montessori y los cuáles son fáciles de aplicar en un aula ordinaria. Podríamos decir que, Montessori es más una filosofía de vida, que en sí los materiales que se usan. Para conseguir llevar esta filosofía, los adultos debemos de hacer el trabajo más costoso, cambiar nuestra mentalidad y la forma que tenemos de ver al niño.
Como experiencia personal, si estos dos puntos no se interiorizan y forman parte de tu filosofía de vida, este cambio está destinado a fracasar. Debemos sentir el método como parte de nosotros mismos, parte de nuestra vida diaria, de nuestra forma de pensar.
¿Cómo podemos trasladar la filosofía Montessori a nuestras aulas?
En este post, me centraré en el periodo de edad de cero a tres años, ya que es mi especialidad. Daré una serie de principios que se pueden trasladar a cualquier aula.
Ambiente adaptado
Debemos crear un ambiente adaptado para los niños. Este punto en el lenguaje Montessori se resume en “ambiente preparado”. Este punto no solo hace referencia al espacio físico donde se lleva a cabo el aprendizaje, sino que, también hace referencia a las personas con las que estos se relacionan.
Este ambiente preparado se compone principalmente por el uso de un mobiliario adaptado a la medida de los niños. Debe ser un ambiente ordenado, bonito, limpio, bien estructurado que permita la libertad de movimiento y un lugar amplio con suficiente espacio como para trabajar en el suelo. Tener una buena iluminación, colores cálidos o neutros. Todo lo que necesite debe estar a su alcance y debe ser libre de moverse por el ambiente con total libertad.
Libertad de aprendizaje
Debemos dejar que sea el propio niño quién decida con qué objeto, juguete o tipo de material quiere trabajar. Esto es el motor principal para fomentar la concentración y la motivación. Todo aquel descubrimiento que los niños hacen por su propia cuenta, incitan al asombro y al amor por aprender.
Proporcionar diferentes estímulos
En el ambiente podemos proporcionar a los niños diferentes estímulos. Puedes crear diferentes espacios y observar por cuál o cuáles los niños sienten más curiosidad y se sienten más atraídos. Proporcionarles una gran variedad de materiales, contribuye a la creación de su persona.
Y a nosotros como adultos, nos ayuda a entender cuál es su motivación. Con ello, podemos reforzar esa motivación. Por ejemplo, si a un niño le llama la atención la “zona de arte”, podemos ir introduciendo nuevos materiales y ofrecerle una gran variedad de materiales.
Promover la autonomía
Buscamos que el niño sea el protagonista de su aprendizaje. Podemos promover que dejen sus cosas, se quiten los zapatos, realicen su lavado de manos solo, recoger los juguetes cuando acaben de usarlos, etc. Son prácticas diarias que pueden introducirse en nuestra aula poco a poco y que conlleva un gran avance en su independencia.
La importancia de guiar
En lugar de dirigir, debemos guiar. Los adultos debemos ser unos simples espectadores. María Montessori indicaba como “toda aquella ayuda innecesaria, es un obstáculo para el desarrollo del niño”. Debemos brindar al niño todas las herramientas necesarias para que se desarrolle. Esto se consigue a raíz de la observación y seguimiento del mismo.
La realidad
Los objetos y/o materiales que haya en el ambiente, deben ser reales. Por ejemplo, en la hora del almuerzo, pueden tener vasos de cristal. Si en algún caso esto implica un peligro, se deberá usar ante vigilancia de un adulto. Otro ejemplo podrían ser los libros, debemos dejar a un lado la fantasía y ofrecer libros que reflejen realidades.
Libertad de movimiento
Proporcionarles un espacio amplio, donde ellos puedan moverse activamente con objetos sencillos y fáciles de usar.
Edades mezcladas
Gracias a la mezcla de edades en una misma clase, se fomenta la colaboración y la empatía en los niños. A los niños mayores les encanta colaborar con los más pequeños, y a estos les apasiona ver las actividades que los mayores realizan. He visto casos de niños pequeños aprendiendo a usar materiales gracias a la ayuda y observación que hacen de los más mayores del grupo. Esto es un aprendizaje muy enriquecedor para el grupo.
Aprendizaje significativo
Podemos describir el aprendizaje significativo como aquel que se le enseña mediante actividades lúdicas por medio de las cuales ellos tengan la oportunidad de explorar y descubrir el mundo que les rodea a través de su interacción con él.
Las áreas Montessori
En la etapa de 0 a 3 años, podemos destacar cuatro áreas: vida práctica, lenguaje, sensoriomotriz y arte.
Vida práctica
Se busca que el niño/a adquiera responsabilidad, autonomía e independencia con actividades adaptadas a su edad relacionadas con su vida diaria y futuro. Podemos distinguir entre cuidado del ambiente (todo lo que tenga que ver con su alrededor; barrer, fregar, limpiar mesa, limpiar cristales, etc.), y cuidado personal (peinarse, lavarse las manos, sonarse la nariz, preparar pequeños snacks, etc.).
Sensoriomotriz
La comprensión del mundo sucede a través de nuestras interacciones motoras y sensoriales con los objetos. En esta área trabajamos con la manipulación de los objetos.
Lenguaje
Este rincón está dirigido a favorecer la expresión oral del niño a través de imágenes, cuentos, marionetas. De este modo, desarrollan su lenguaje y su comunicación con los demás. A través del cuento y la imagen, se fomenta el espíritu de observación del niño/a, su descubrimiento. También podemos trabajar esta área a través de objetos reales y/o objetos con tarjetas.
Arte
Esta área nos ayuda a desarrollar la observación, motricidad y creatividad. Desarrollar habilidades y destreza al manipular, recortar, pegar, pintar, modelar, dibujar y emplear el color a través de la práctica de diferentes técnicas.
